Clean Your Closet!
If you have to ease the closet door open to avoid a cascade of ‘stuff’ you need a little help. Nothing feels better than a clear, organized space.Spring is coming, we promise. That means spring cleaning, so let’s get started on our over-stuffed closets, shall we?
- Use the SHED method: House Beautiful.com recommends the SHED method. SEPARATE the keep from the toss. HEAVE the trash- get rid of what's weighing you down. EMBRACE the person you are without all your stuff. DRIVE yourself forward to get the job done.
- Love it or toss it: Consider the ‘love it or leave it’ theory when going through closet clutter. Clear the closet and go through all the things. If you love it and it has a use, keep it. If it’s anything less than rockin’ your world, toss it out. When you look at the mess in your closet, how much of it has any real purpose or gets used on a regular basis? Ahhh…we thought so.
- Make a List: If you do better with a little direction, make a list. Go through the things in your closet and list what to keep and what to toss. Once you’ve written an item in either the ‘keep’ or ‘toss’ section, don’t change it later or you’ll end up with all the junk back in your closet.
- Make it Pretty: Look, women like pretty things. We especially like pretty spaces. There’s no reason why your closet has to be unappealing. Once you’ve cleansed your closet of all the useless things, spruce it up! You’ll be more likely to keep things organized when it looks nice. Make use of good containers and organizing systems to help keep things tidy.
Doesn’t that feel better?{Top Photo Credit}
