Parents are asked to take coats off in the car seat which is difficult to keep up with and dangerous to ignore.
WHAT DO YOU SELL?
I designed, patented, and sell car seat friendly coats (they're adorable too!)
WHO IS YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE?
Mothers and grandmothers primarily. My audience comes from diverse sociopolitical backgrounds with no true niche in who buys other than age and gender.
WHAT 3 PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who treats PTSD and runs a multiclinician private practice I built from the ground up with my friend while raising three children single-handedly. Meanwhile I saw a need for safer coats for kids and designed and began marketing them to parents a year ago. With as busy as life is running two businesses, caring for three kids, 2 cats and a dog it would be easy to have zero interests and while I do work hard I play hard too which I am very proud of.
WHAT MAKES YOUR BUSINESS STORY UNIQUE?
How far Ive gotten despite the many hurdles in my path. As a single parent I do not have the support of a spouse at home who can pick up the slack when I need to step up to the plate. As a mother of three children of different ages and emotional needs I need to be emotionally and physically available to the children. As an individual with no manufacturing, design, or ecommerce experience I was destined to fail but through sheer willpower, stubbornness, and engaging, honest, social media outreach I began to build an audience who has loved BMBC enough to not only join us on the journey but also become the fabric of our story. In fact we were recently chosen out of 7880 companies as a FedEx Small Business Grant winner through the power of our fan base voting for us!
